Airbrush painting - Salma Hayek, stage one

My first post in awhile. Like most other people, summer just seems to take your life over ... but anyway, here we are again, back in the saddle. This is the first stage of an airbrush painting I'm making of actress Salma Hayek. Hayek has clear, sharp features and a sort of indefinable depth of "flavor" that makes her more than just another pretty faced Barbie doll. I think that's what I'm going to try to catch here, and that will probably be the most difficult part of all. I've told my wife that she's one of the few actresses who really looks like classic Hollywood.

The board is a standard 15x20 inch piece of Crescent hot press (smooth) illustration board. The colors are Createx airbrush paints. My gun is a standard Paasche VL. The first stage is just a faint pencil drawing and the first layer of color as I'm beginning to build flesh tones. Bits of frisket are protecting the eyes, the earrings and the gloss of her lips from airbrush overspray.
